October 5th is National Do Something Nice Day! Taking the time to do something nice for someone on this day will lead to a making kindness a habit every other day of the year. Whether it's giving a compliment to a stranger or volunteering at a local shelters, no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
This year, in honor of National Do Something Nice Day, our team decided to donate clothing and shoes to local organizations. Below are a few nonprofit organizations that work towards empowering the lives of those in need.
Downtown Women's Center
The Downtown Women's Center is the only organization in the city of Los Angeles that focuses exclusively on helping and empowering women experiencing homelessness. Through housing, wellness, employment and advocacy, its main mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles. It envisions every woman housed and on a path to personal stability. If you are looking to donate, the center offers scheduled contactless donation drop-offs.
Los Angeles Mission
Los Angeles Mission aims to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty by stabilizing people in a safe and spiritual environment. The non-profit organization serves the immediate and long-term needs of homelessness and disadvantaged men, women and children. It is among the nation's largest service providers to the homeless. The Mission is accepting food, clothing and goods as donations.
Non-profit organization, Project Ropa, helps restore dignity and empower the lives of those experiencing homelessness by providing clean clothes, hygiene essentials, and employment opportunities. Access to hygiene services is a human right, and Project Ropa works to provide clean clothing and proper hygiene. The organization is currently accepting men's and women's clothing and hygiene items.
