Mental Health Awareness Day this year is on October 10th. A day for education, awareness and advocacy against the stigma of mental illness, the event has been providing a dedicated opportunity to open up conversations on mental health.
Speaking openly and sensitively about mental health is essential year-round. There are many ways we can contribute to advocacy and outreach efforts. So we're highlighting a few brands that are giving back in support of mental health awareness.
Lifestyle brand Ban.do sells clothing, accessories, and wellness items with messaging that promotes positivity and optimism. The brand's notable "Feel Better" collection features a set of necklaces designed by mental health advocate Jen Gotch. All proceeds from this collection are donated to the non-profit, Bring Change to Mind, which is dedicated to "ending the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness".
The bohemian clothing brand is in partnership with Girls, Inc, a non-profit organization focuses on supporting personal and professional mentorship opportunities for women and girls. Their collaborative efforts have encouraged discussions of and support for mental health among the youth, while implementing policies in schools to meet students' needs.
